    New (to me) 2007 Ultra 250X questions...

    Hey guys...just jumped in the 4-stroke arena after having a bunch of 2-strokes over the years. Got a great deal on a lightly used '07 250 with 15 hours.

    It seems to run great to me. The "new" sound of the engine (that whine took a little getting used to) is interesting. I am turning 7200 rpm a WOT and from what I've read, that's a bit low and I should be at 7600.

    Can you suggest the proper troubleshooting steps to check this out?? I am a novice wrencher and very new to 4-strokes.

    Also, what other info do I need to know to keep this baby going for a long time??

    Sorry I can not give any advise, but give it time and someone will. There are alot of guys on here that are really good. I am sure one will be happy to help. Good luck it sounds like it runs great to me but I am not an expert.

    What boost and speed are you getting at that rpm. In no fixed order check the following;
    -Belt tension
    -BOV
    -Plugs
    -SC Hoses
    -Exhaust hoses
    -Air box trumpet
    -Impeller clearance.

    I've got the same problem. I put it on the General Discussion Area section. So far I changed my plugs and still reving to 6,700RPMs. I'm going to block off my blow off valve and tighten the belt. Hope that works

    Fellas,

    Wanted to get some more info here. Ski now turning 7600-7800 rpm. Now...

    What mods can I do to make this ski more reliable?? I know the double bearing setup is #1. I have almost contemplated downgrading to a 15-f to get the reliability. My other ski is an STX-R that I just de-tuned back to stock.

    lots of good maintenance, you pay to play.

    someone should start a maintenance thread....now wait there I think a certaing cool sensative new age site has that already........
