    vx vs fx ho crankcase

Does anyone know if the Vx crankcase is the same as the fxho? Seems a rod attempted to leave before I took it apart and I have have great view of the inside of one cylinder's crank area.

Since there are lots of vx one's available, I was hoping I could use one. Otherwise, anyone have or want to sell a bottom end for an 05 fxho? I know they are both the same bore but are they different in any other way besides the fancy black paint on the Fx ones?

    Thanks.

Yes, the VX does have the same engine as the FX160 HO.

Actually the VX has a smaller diameter bore than the FXHO.

    Ok,
So we now have a significant difference of opinion...Anyone know if respondent (A) is correct or respondent (B)? In order for (B) to be correct, then the crankshaft on the HO's would have to have a shorter stroke to make up for the larger bore in order for both engines to displace the 1100cc's. This seems unlikely.

The VX motor has the same bore as the HO motor.
The only one that had a SMALLER bore was the140hp.
The difference between the VX110 and the 160 HO are: VX motor only turns 8000 rpm and it has a single trottle body, it also has a smaller exhaust but the crankcase and rear of the motor are the same.
You dont have to believe though, but i have a VX motor sitting right at my workshop.

I looked at my notes and I believe I was incorrect about the diameter being different. The FX140 has a smaller bore. However check out what I found on boats.net, according to them the only common parts it the crank. Also the 6B6..... Is cast into the block so its not just a parts grouping variation either.

    2005 FXHO

    6B6-15100-00-8P CRANKCASE ASSY $1,562.07x1

    5PW-11650-00-00 CONNECTING ROD ASSY $110.99x1
    60E-11411-11-00 CRANKSHAFT $992.02x1
    2005 VX110

    Wizard,
Thanks for the info. Same bore/stroke do you "know" if an fx ho head will work on the block? The part no.s are different so I Am reluctant to find out the hard way. I currently own both skis but do not want to remove the 110 motor to compare all the attachment points. Anybody ever use a 110 block with the 160 head, exhaust, final drive and stator? Thanks.
