2004 RXP Gelcoat Delamination
I had my RXP at 70 on flat water and all of a sudden the ski slowed to 40. I came off the gas and back on and got hesitation as if a bag was stuck in my intake. I got off the ski stuck my hand under the ski to try and remove the bag that I thought was stuck there. I felt a piece of figerglass stuck there and couldn't figure out how I sucked up a piece of glass. I rode to a friends house near by who has a davit pulled her out of the water and couldn't frekin believe that from the nose to the ride plate the gel coat peeled off like a bannana. Any else have this happen?
Check out the pics...

i've seen that kind of damage. it was on a yammi though. waveraider III from the '90s. it was my friend, he kept jumping this sandbar and sliding across it. i dont know how much speed he lost because that model doesnt have a speedo but he had to fiberglass the bottom to patch it up.

I heard about a rental fleet that had every ski in the fleet done since they were having about 3 a week do that for almost a month. They were brand new 02 or 03 GTI's . BRP wisely had it taken care of. I would think that if your ski was less than 5 years old BRP should take care of this.

I wonder if that can start with a single scratch or gouge somewhere up front, where the gouge is though the gelcoat. Once it starts ripping,it keeps on going?
I had a decent sized gouge where it was down to the fiberglass. I am glad I patched it with new gelcoat.

I now know of at least two RXP's that have done this. Both are race boats. One was my old RXP.
I think I read from Bo D. that it has to do with hull flexing. SD won't fix it unless you are under warranty, havent done any mods and throw the title esquire around a few times.

I had it happen to my Polaris Pro 785. It was nothing that bad, a couple 6x5" pieces. I caught it before they came all the way off. It cost me $800.00 to get it fixed. I have not seen one that bad before. I hope it can be covered under warranty.
