PRO 785 rough water set up

What's the best set up you guys have found for 2-3' chop?

That's the normal conditions for where I ride, and should be beating the SD skis (all out drag racing) more than I am. But because the ski keeps coming unhooked, they catch up until it plants and goes.

I find my trim almost all the way down works about the best.

I have HS trim tabs installed and a HS ride plate. Stock intake grate (R&D 3 vane) and stock sponsons.

I seen an offshore jet dynamic one that is for offshore racing but I hear it really tries to suck the ski down, but maybe that is what you need?

Is this the intake grate you are talking about ski? I bought this with a bunch of parts in Eagle River this spring. Watcon had one on eBay several weeks ago, I don't know if it sold.

randy told me he likes the 750 rd ones too.big deep blade put around 2-3 mph scrub but rough would keep it hooked.also a long driveshaft if it doesn't have one.a 2-3 wedge will flatten the ski out so it slices thru the waves flatter.worked for me with the hs plate i had.just got tired of riding like that on any smooth stuff.

That JD grate does look to be quite aggressive. Maybe I'll try a R&D 750 grate first.

Yes I have the long driveshaft installed.

Might have to try the 2* wedge then. I hate losing any top end, but if I normally ride 2-3' waves, what good is top speed if you can't reach it?

    Thanks guys.

I am having the same proble hooking up in the rough against other sea doo's as well. Another idea I am thinking about looking into is letting my power valves stay open. When my ski pops out of the water the valves close when it hits limiter, but when the ski comes back down into the water, they open again momentarilly. I want to look into doing something to keep the valves open even while im out of the water so there is not that second to open up when im in the water.
