    Motor interchange question

    Looking at a complete motor for my 01 xlt1200, it is a gp1200 motor, looks like the carbs bolt to the cylinders, not the crankcase??
    Will it bolt into my hull and work?? It comes with it's own msd ignition. Not sure if my pipe will work??

    It would be a project to make it fit properly. The motor mount spacing is different and so is the exhaust. It would also be a downgrade in power from 155hp stock to 120hp without any modifications. The photos show a lot of aftermarket parts so I imagine the engine would run strong.

    If you would like a 2nd opinion contact other GH members or Osidebill for their advice on the earlier 65U GP/XL VS 66V GPR/XLT engines.

    The 65U makes 135HP.

    The guy who has it claims 92mph in the 1/4.
    Will include a riva race pump, everything for 1500.
