    Experts i got a tough one for ya...

    Ok here goes.

    Im having problems with my RXP at the moment and i have tried everything and cant figure it out.

    The problem is my boat is topping out at 8k-8200 rpm and wont spin any more. Feels really flat and no power.

    It feels like the motor is under huge load.

    Im boosting 21.5psi and used to spin 8700 rpm at 17 psi.

    Now the timing, fueling, etc is exactly the same and is no problem but the i feel the motor is under massive load.

    For those of you that know turbos on Seadoos i will be crusing around at 10-20% throttle the boat starts making 10-15 psi at only 6000rpm. I used to be able to get up to 7500 before boost had to come on.

    Again it points back to more load.

    Also just a side note im running a 15psi spring and its over boosting for some reason but that might be another problem.

    Now i have had the head off and replaced the head gasket and checked internals and there are no problems.

    At the same time i replaced the cam for an 04 and have double checked the cam timing and it is right.

    Compression tested it and 145psi across all three.

    I have replaced the coils one at a time and its the same.

    I have ridden with the seat off and its the same so no exhaust leaks etc.

    Everything in the motec datalogging is exactly the same as when it was running right.

    Have checked the pump and driveline and this is like brand new.

    So what would cause the motor to feel like it under load and have no power?

    Have you checked your intercooler for leaks?

    Yeah mate i have just replaced the whole thing as my old one was leaking.

    Bearings in the turbo going bad?

    What size oil restrictor jet are you using?

    Have you checked the drain?

    What oil filter do you use before turbo and what oil source?


    I know these motors produce a lot of debris. Even stock motors have debris in the oil filters.

    Turbo is perfect.

    It is running a restrictor and the return line is no prob.

    Gets its oil feed from the back of the head.

    Turbo is no problem as im getting 21.5 psi no problems at 8k rpm.

    The problem is it used to spin 87-8800 rpm at 17 psi and now it only does 8k and feels very slow.

    what about the pump? maybe pump bearing is bad?

    Is there anything that happened just prior?

    Maybe reload the original map? Where you doing any compensation tables?

    You could also pull and clean the Cam sensor and Crank sensor. This has caused issues with me before when running Motec if they are not perfectly clean.

    Just thinking out loud.

    Yeah, how does your pump look?

    What wear ring do you run? (Plastic or SS)

    Could poor engine alingment cause that much load?

    Yeah guys pump and engine alignment are perfect.


    I think duke is on to it with the sensors.

    Also been talking to a few people over here and it could have something to with the REF SYNC.

    Basically the Sync between the cam and the crank in the motec.

    I have found the over boosting problem was due to a melted bellow in the wastegate.

    I would recommend anyone running EXT gates in turbos to use the Tial watercooled 44mm as the bellow wont last long with out water cooling.
