Hello all, here is my story.

Bought an '01 GP1200R tonight, knowing that the rear cylinder was bad. The ski is very clean and it came on a nice trailer. 132 hours. The price was very good.

I got home and pulled the head. Pictures (bad ones from my blackberry), are attached. Operator from time of damage is unavailable for comment.

How bad does it have to be to have damaged the bottom end? Some of the ring is missing. Cylinder is really scored. Head pitted as shown.

Is there a tell tale sign of bottom end damage??

I have been lurking here for a while, seems like a great site.

    Thanks in advance!!

Whats the other cyl's/pistons look like? The #3 looks like the nitorious crank bearing failure. Get the piston out and inspect the piston pin locations.

Thank you so much for the reply!

    The other pistons look "normal"

There was oil in the bottom of the hull, and I attached a pic of the carb, and what looks like a disconnected oil line.

I will snap some pics tonight of the other cylinders.
