2008 RXT or 2008 RXT-X??? Please help
I am new to the forum.....Hi and thanks. I am looking at either buying a 2008 RXT for $7900 with 40 hours with 1 year left on warranty or a 2008 RXT-X with 100 hours but a warranty until 2013. The RXT-X just had the 100 hour check-up with supercharger rebuild for $800. An ideas on which ski you would buy? I have a wife and 2 small kids, but like to go fast against my friends. I have been told that I could modify the RXT to be much faster than a stock RXT-X.
Thanks in advance,

the only difference between the rxt and t-x is that x model jsut have a bigger intercooler and tha race intake grate i recomend you to look a rxt 2007 because it have the same top speed as the rxt x , remember that in 2008 coast guard limit the boats so i recomend you to buy a 2007 that are many that have less than 40 hr you need to ask about warranties of the boats , hope that helps

Thanks for the info. I won't be doing more than a stage 1 mod at some point, if even that. Does anybody know how a 2008 RXT with riva stage 1 would compare to a stock 2008 RXT-X? Any ideas? I would probably be fine with a stock RXT, but maybe faster out of the hole would be cool too.

I will go with the X model. You would have a X-Sc, Ic, Top Intake Grate, 42 lbs Injectors, ECU at 8250rpm's and VTS system. If they took care of the 100 hours check up you be doing great with 3 years of warranty. My point of view.

Are they both at the same $7900 price? Thats easy. Do the RXT-X. Its a 67+ mph boat all the time, bone stock. The RXT is at least 3-4 mph slower. Plus a warranty for another 3 years.

Sorry, the RXT-X is $8700..........I am trying to decide which route to go. The RXT would be $800 less and it only has 40 hours. However, the RXT-X is faster of course and has 2 additional years of warranty. If the 100 hour service was done and the ski is in good shape, I would assume that 100 hours isn't too many hours???? I was hoping on a lower hour RXT-X.

If the warranty is on EVERYTHING, then the hours don't make that much of a deal.(for 2 years at least) I truly don't know if 100 hrs is a lot or not. I'd guess it depends on how hard it was ridden. Is the boat worth $800 more??? Depends on what you want. The X has more "toys", and is faster. but do you care more about 4 mph or the 60 extra hours?

It all depends on what you want. The real difference in the 2 skis is going to be holeshot and mid range power. You can definitely feel the difference in acceleration between the 2 skis, the X ski will acclerate much harder. On top end the X will have an advantage but only a couple of mph. I would probably pick up the RXT and do the stage 1 like you have planned. You should be able to stick with a stock RXT-X fairly easy after that. Warranty isnt going to make much of a difference since you plan to mod. Either way you cant go wrong.

Out of those two units you could offer maybe $7K on the RXT 215, IF (and this is a big IF) you are able to extend the warranty out for another 2 years with BRP (but that will cost you about $900.00, so do the math compared to new 2009 left-over unit). Otherwise pass and get a new unit as described.
As for the 2008 T-X; as I told you before; some of the 2008-2009 RXT-X models have had problems with cracked pump tunnels. If it happens, this can be a SERIOUS issue, and the reason I did not buy them myself. Use the search tool for research, there are many posts about it on this forum.
