I have heard of it happening a few times, but these guys were ocean riders that came unhooked a lot and were making big big power.

The motor was removed but I have put 150 hrs on it since then have not taken the pump apart yet but there isn't any play in the bearings . The last 2 hrs I did notice a slight vibration at about 7400 rpm's and above .

Had it happen to a Super Stock XPL because the plug in the back of the pump came out and the bearings froze up.

If you are not properly aligned when the motor is reinstalled, this type of failure can result. Who did the work and did they use the proper alignment tool. Even if they did, there is no way to tell without re-checking it now.
Buy the tool or borrow it while the pump is out and check it. If you don`t you`ll never know what really caused it.
