stock gpr speed. gps vs. stock speedo

so if you go down a couple threads youll see

    http://www.greenhulk.net/forums/show...ught-A-GP1200r

he says he got his to say 68 on the stock speedo.

i can only get mine to about 63.

what ive heard is that the stock gprs run about 63 gps.

is the stock speedo within a mph or two at 60? i figured it wouldnt be that much off, until you got over 70 ish, but if the ski in that thread i linked is doing 68, then that means mines only doing 55 ish or so.

so has anyone taken a bone stock gpr out with a gps speed? im guessing they do 63 gps, but when its at that speed what does the stock speedo say?

lol.. it all depends on plate angle and how u are seated..

if u lean back you can get the stock speedo to read 80mph. accuracy is way out.

Get your self a cheap gps or use a mobile phone that has a proper gps.

you can get a sports tracking gps app for your droid, something along the lines of http://mytracks.appspot.com/ and http://gpslogger.codeplex.com/

I have an app for my nokia thats designed for tracking race car performance and logs lots of data. I also run a sports tracker set in cycling mode.

ive got a build thread up that you commented in. middle cyl is down to 40. its apart now for a rebuild. at the time it seemed to be running fine, but the other 2 cyls were down to 110. thats great. so when i rebuild this and get the desired 120 psi out of it i should see 68ish on the speedo? assuming nothing else on the ski is wrong. when its back together it will be a fresh top end with a d plate chip and premix.

I would stick a piece of tape over your stock speedo....All kidding aside, never go off your stock speedo, get a GPS. You need solid baseline #'s for testing.

i keep my droid in a water tight box. and found a nice app for it.

id like to get a real gps though at some point, but for now the speedo serves as a good guestimate.
