Think you have seen it all?

Well so did I... at least with the 66v motor.

Got a customers XLT1200. Rebuilt entire motor... no expense spare for stock parts... fresh nikasiled cylinders, new Wiseco forged pistons, fresh rebuilt T/W crank with all new bearings, fresh built carbs rejetted, replace exhaust mani because of pitting, replace cyl head because of dome damage, all new seals and gaskets, bla, bla, bla.
Put it all together and its backfiring violently... like it blows the exhaust tube off the waterbox... go back thru the carbs several times, pull the motor several times, check keyway and timing components, check crank for phase, install complete electronics off another ski... still BOOM when its running... like 60 hours overtime on this job and finally found out what was wrong...

The #2 crank rod journal was pressed on and welded exactly 180deg out, so when rotated it hits TDC 1-3-2 instead of 1-2-3...
