I just finished rebuilding my 04 rxp motor with all new bearings Carrillo rods riva pistons, block guard etc. I was wondering what oil do I run to break the motor in.

To break the ski in (first hour) use non synthetic cheap oil. I use castrol. Then once broke in replaced it with Amsoil.

I'm using 10w 40 Valvoline 4 Strock Motocycle Oil with Wet Cluch application without no problem in high rpm's. Oh! $3.99qt.

I would start with the BRP stuff as its not badly priced and is the right stuff from the factory then after the first hour suck all that out and get so Mobil 1 15w/50 racing 4t synthetic.

That what I run in my superstock, its a very good oil thats Jaso MA rated for wet clutches so no slip issuses for the clutch.

I would say it would be OTT for a stock or lightly modded engine but for something more powerfull thats going to be worked hard its the way to go.

I guess your building something with quite a bit of power considering the internals you have used.

Do you have to perform any balencing to run those rods??? or just a stock engine?? R88

Gotta get those rings set good, and get the assembly lube out after that first hour. Make sure you change the filter also!! Your only talking about 3.3 qts of oil.
