Purchase Decision. Any love for the SUV?

I have the opportunity to buy an '04 SUV with 65 hours, 112 lb on all cylinders, one owner, on trailer, in nice shape for $1000 below NADA low retail... $2750.00

My motives are to have fun with my family on a reliable ski. I have three boys... 6, 8, and 10 who love the water.

Is there any reason not to go with the SUV? I could go with a 99 XL1200 Limited with 135 hours and a bad crank for about the same total cost. (After rebuild.)

The pros for me are the size and capacity... and the simplicity of the non-powervalve motor.

Cons are manuverability and "fun" factor for me when I ride solo.

Eventually I plan to move up to a Yamaha 4 Stroke ski, so resale is also a consideration. Are SUVs hard to sell?

    Any input would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Jay

These skis are great for the family I have one and it gets used more then any of my skis. Pulls tubes and wakeboards all day long the only downside is it is thirsty that old 65U motor is a guzzler. other then that maintenance is a breeze and they are pretty bullet proof.

    Thanks for the replies...

Is that compression # good for a 65U? It was pulled by a reputable shop.

trailers are hard to come by for that so consider that issue also if it is not included ,, I think resale would be no problem ,, those are a tad rare and super cool IMHO

They were sold with a trailer from Yamaha, I still have mine they were made by shorelander for Yamaha. I use a double trailer with a GPR and had to make adjustments to the bunks and front stantion to fit both but it was no big deal.
