    RXT mods needed to hang with RXT-X

    A buddy of mine recently purchased a 2008 RXT-X and I have been trying to decide between a 2008/9 RXT or 2008/9 RXT-X. I know that there have been issues with a cracked pump tunnel on the X. I was wondering if anybody who has an RXT with some basic mods, such as stage 1, has raced an RXT-X or Ultra 250 or Yamaha FZS. I am just trying to see if an RXT with $1000 or of mods can hang with an RXT-X or beat it. Thanks in advance.

    The stock RXT is no slouch. Our stock RXT's have taken a lot of Ultras, even the P-X with an average rider can't hold onto an RXT in the chop for long. You just have to keep the wear ring in good shape and know how to ride them.

    Where the X models excel is in hole shot; the pumps are set up for a fantastic start and Sea-Doo really delivers it with the X models.

    As for the mods, you can get a Riva package for the RXT for less than $800 which should put you at about 68-69 mph depending on the temperature and fuel load, and that should let you hang with all of them. Jerry has all these parts in his store with a discount coupon. See here for comparisons:

    Thanks YoYamma. Does anybody know how improved the hole shot is on the rxt with the stage 1 kit?

    Running a 255 with my old 215, he pulled me by 2 ski lengths and stayed there, when his was brand new. Now running him with my 260, we are pretty much dead even both places. Hes running 67 GPS, and my 260 so far has run a best of 68.4 with 9 hrs on it, and a 4" air.

    A stage 1 Riva is gonna cost you right around that $1000 mark, and gain you a couple to 3 mph, but a 255 is still going to beat you. If you put chop and riding ability into it, its anybodys guess who will win, but machine to machine, $1000 isn't going to make a 215 run with a 255

    If I recall, didn't you say your 215 was running only 63-64 mph?

    62-63 in summer. Hit 67 ONE time in November with 50* air and water temp.

    The 255 I ran with my 215 had ZERO hours on it. we ran multiple times, and switched riders, and still got the same results. I never ran it once it got broken in.

    My RXT could hang with a RXP-X with just the X charger, 4'' home made rear air, 14/19R, free mods, riva pump wedge, XS I/C kit, and that was on flat water, the P would beat me out the hole by about 2 skis and then I would pull up on him and we would be even after about 1/2 mile. In the chop the RXP-X couldnt hang at all, the RXT-X's i have raced are about dead even out of the whole then I pull by 2 or 3 skis no problem. Now a days I kill them with the ET140R wheel and riva stage 3 kit.

    Just a couple of dollars beyond the OP's $1000 budget
