New RXT-X 260 and fuel Octane question. OOPS!!!

Hey guys...figured I would ask you guys this question since you have been working with the next RXT-X 260. I just purchased mine and rode it this past weekend and was able to put 2hrs on it. Heres the problem. I am a little concerned because I have been using 89 Octane in my SHO Cruiser and forgot and filled the X with that for its first tank. On the two hours of riding, i burned about 1/4 to a half. Have a made a BIG mistake and will this hurt the ski. I have read numerious post about knock censors, but its scary to think about retarding the timing. Also, all they carry close to me is 93, will that be ok?

93 is what I shoot for....a tank of 89 ain't gonna kill it.

It won't hurt it. Its just not going to give max performance which during breakin isn't that big an issue. Note that Doo says that the MINIMUM is 87, and the Recommended is 91.

93 is fine. I've run it for 4 years in teh 215, and now the 260. Only thing we have. Running 93 in an engine made for 87 is bad. Running it in an engine made for 91 is fine.

You sure about that? The debate about burn rate and flash points go on for ever... ultimately octane is the "knock/anti-detonation" number to rate the fuel. The fuel is still just pump gas.
If you are that worried about the fuel you could run a much better quality like VP or Klotz specific to the motor for which the fuel is built for.

The main difference between using 87 and 93 is the burn rate. 93 burns slower than 87. Running an 87 rated engine (like most cars or non SC skis) with 93 "may" not hurt it, but it gains you nothing, except paying a lot more.

Doo has their computer set so most likely the knock sensors or other part of the computer will control any issues if you have to run 87 or 89 in the engine. Max performance comes with 91 or better. I can't get anything but 89 or 93, but if I could get 91, it would probably run the same as it does on 93 (or higher)

Thanks guys, I was worried and hoping I had not done any damage to my new ski. Should I run this fuel out or go ahead and refuel it. Again thanks and I will take all the pointers I can get

    Yea, I'm the same way 89 or 93. I pick 93! Remember this is RON + MON/2 =

Just run it. You are fine I wouldn't do any WOT runs for too long, but then the book says not to anyway ((-:
