I would think that the Jap companies like Kawasaki, Yammi and Honda put more into the US economy than BRP does. I don't know if the Japanese brand PWC assemble the engines here or they come complete from Japan. The hulls are laid up in the USA and the final assembly is here. I don't know much about Honda, but Kawasaki and I believe Yamaha do their R&D and testing in the states. That gives employment to our workers. With BRP the whole manufacturing process is in Canada or overseas. The only operations they still have here are the testing facilities and a warehouse. Most everything else was moved to Canada when BRP split from the parent company a few years ago.
