    motor swap

    I'm swapping my motor into a different sl 900 hull because mine has a big crack in it and i was wondering if you guys had any tips and tricks for pulling and installing the motor. Also what should i replace while the motor is out? And as far as aligning the motor how does that work? Anything else i should know about?

    just fix the hull, go look at my paint sticky on the front page.. i can walk ya thru it..

    or if you must change, clean the tank, change the lines and rebuild the carbs and fuel pump. might as well check the bearings in the stator while its out and maybe change the seals in the thru hull bearing.

    also check the tolerence of the impellor and the wear ring clearence to the prop.. use the search function on the fron page to find some info on that..

    the blades on the stator should nice n clean looking with no cracks, broken fine, or bent looking..

    roll the driveshaft on glass and check the splines, they should be square lookingm not pointy n sharp..

    if it where me.. and i had a spare hull id swap it!.. biggest thing is the electrical IMO. do a search but there is a good how to step by step around here.. but click on my signature and start some reading!

    there is only 36 hours on this ski but its still 14 years of age on the parts

    are you swap a domestic engine to a domestic hull or a Fuji hull?

    yea its domestic to domestic i have 2 1996 sl 900's the wash is from the better ski with no problems and this one has a hole in that im swapping into a spare sl 900 hull

    Ouch. thats in a bad spot too.. see ryan,,, thats why im going to redo the pros tunnel.. just in case and nd for fun working with the carbon fiber..

    Hmmm. if your not to familiar with structural repairs, esspecially critical areas.. like where yours broke, i would swap the hull too..

    looks like it got some air and landed wrong on something hard. you can see fractures under the plate too.

    If you did this repair, it would have to look exactly like what was there before to get the water flow characteristics right
