My Service Manual states:
4.5 US quarts Total CapacityI normally put back what I take out when changing the oil and try to end-up with the oil level in the middle of the dip stick. With that said, I am concerned when I change my oil and extract more than 2.25 quarts (as opposed to what the Service Manual says). When this has happened in the past, I have cautiously snuck-up on the dip stick starting at adding 2 quarts, turn the motor over, let sit for five minutes and then check the level in the water--adding more if necessary.
3.2 US quarts without oil filter replacement when changing oil
3.3 US quarts with oil filter replacement when changing oil

So what this means is that we cant get all the oil out on the change?

It helps to have the nose down when extracting. I turn my ski around on the lift. I've also just lowered the trailer jack about six inches too.
Personally, I change my oil a lot more often than the manual calls for. It's only around two quarts at a time and makes me feel better when I see the Pet record 8600+...

The way the oil pan is it get s deeper in the middle and there is a plate over the middle that probably holds about a quart itself. You won't get but about 3-3.5 quarts out of it.

I just change mine more often than normal. Every 10-15 hours and I feel better about beating the sheeite out of her.

my buddy removes 1 more quart by removing the 4 spark plug wires so the motor wont start, remove the oil filter and bump the start button, you have to put a container where the filter was to collect the oil. this is if you want to get all the oil out of the motor or if your switching to a different oil and dont want them to mix.

Guys sorry but no way am I going to turn this motor over and risk starving the bearings at all to get a little more oil out. I got over 3 qts out by pulling for a while and waiting, pulling more and waiting, it did take a couple of hours but I had time because I was doing other things in the shop and when I thought about it I would go pump on it. I got a little more each time. Dont starve your bearings guys!!! Please....its not worth it....
