SLTX 1050 starter bendix problem/confusion???????
Ok so i install a new bendix for this 1050 stlx.... Seemed weird that the gear on the bendix dosent touch the flywheel to turn the motor over... So I pull the stator cover off holding the bendix in place so the starter would spin it when i gave it power... I do see that the bendix can swivel out to turn the flywheel but unsure how? Anyway I gave the starter some power an it spun the bendix but no luck of something happening where it would majicly move forward an spin the flywheel.... Unsure what im missing here of how this works but any help or advice would be great an really appreciated...

the bendix is actually 2 peices spring loaded under inertia the small end of the sprocket will extend out and grab ahold of the flywheel
once the engine is running and the stater motor is not engaged the spring will pull it back in the compressed position
if your bendix does not twist out ward than it is seized and will need to be replaced
