    SC gear freespins on shaft

I pulled off the air intake hose to find that the sc fan would spin with my fingers. I pulled out the sc and the sc gear freespins on the shaft. Nothing is cracked or exploded. It looks normal. Is it just the clutch washers worn? or something more?

it is an 05 but has been rebuilt with the newer shaft years ago. It has the metal washer on each side of the gear and the nut appears tight. What toque numbers should i see?

think oem spec is 9 to 12..you are missing a washer or something ...yes it should move but not buy hand...

i think stock is )()() sometimes we stack them different on bigger chargers

08 Spec shaft assembly should be within 10-17 Nm (89 to 150 lbfin) on a new charger and 8-11 Nm (71 to 97) lbfin) on a charger broke in. Information taken from the Seadoo shop manual. You should make atleast 10 revolutions before taking a reading per the book, clears out any lubs still in the clutch. Also check counterclockwise. Sounds like something is missing as Breon has suggested, shouldn't spin free. Could be the gear has worn on the sides.

could it just need to be checked for slip? does the pressure of the nut tightening compress on the clutch and washers and gear? i think the gear has bearings were it meets the shaft right?

the nut bottoms out so you cant tighten it to alter slip only shims etc can alter it. take a pic of the gear so we can see or take it apart and look for a badly worn side on the gear etc.

2 flat washers thicker about 1/8 inch ...one on each side of the gear..there should be 5 spring - (bent washers) a cap on the end...about 1/4 inch thick they have a name for it...not comming to mind...and the nut...

so order is clutch washer -gear.clutch washer..5 spring washers stacked as needed ..for app ...cap ..then nut..
