My completed SLX 780 project.
It’s been so quiet out there that I thought I would post some pics of my recently completed SLX 780 project. I got this one in very poor condition as a heavy pallet had been dropped on it and cracked the upper hull pretty good. It wasn’t pretty! After doing the glass work, I painted the upper hull with a base coat of white and added purple “non-interference” pearl to the clear. I sprayed the hood with a black base coat followed by “interference” purple pearl. My poor quality pictures don’t really show the color hues created by the pearls but in real life, it’s pretty sharp looking. I also added a unique design to the bottom portion of the hull using the same pearls. I ended up using the hood decals from an SL900 because they have purple in them and seemed to go well with the hood color. Some of you might recognize the checkered flags on sides as being from a Pro 785. I liked them better than the original SLX flags. All of the bumpers, rails, handlebar pad, MFD, etc., etc., is all new. In any event, there’s more time into this one than care to admit. Hopefully it will float when I get it out on the water!

Hayabusa, did you order the purple front bumper from polaris? I've been wanting to replace mine for ever now...
Just wondering, that thing looks NEW like I like.
EDIT: I re-read and seen that you did get it new... did you get it from atlantic powersports for like 80 somthing?

Jared, yes the front bumper is brand new and it was ordered through Polaris. The price was somewhere around $80-$90 dollars as best I can remember.

beerdart, here’s the good news about this ski. The engine and inside of the hull were in near new condition. Because of the hull damage, the ski hadn’t been used in quite some time. Also, it had the typical fuel gauge float (that didn’t float) so the ski was stuck in the limp mode. I think the previous owner just gave up on it and it sat around gathering dust for what I was told, "a long time". However, I pretty much gutted the whole engine / compartment and cleaned, repaired or replaced anything questionable as I put it all back together. It fires right up and sounds sweeeeeeeet.

Smokeing!! We will have to race when my SLT 750ish is finished.

beerdart, you're on! However, racing your triple piped SLT with my SLX is like bringing a knife to gunfight. I'm going yo have to pull out the Pro 1200 for that race.

785 cc or lower and you have a race!!!

You will take my word regarding the engine size, won't you?

Yes Wink-Wink!!! It's all about the wax on the hull.
