New to site and jet repair Polaris SLX problems

    Hey there everybody

Im new to the site and to the world of jetski's. I just recently purchased 95 Polaris SLX. I bought it for 400 bucks with a trailer. I replaced the battery and rebuilt the fuel pump. I put it in the water yesterday for the first time, and it was very sluggish. Also, if the throttle was at 100% the motor sounded a little funny, but at 3/4 throttle it sounded ok. Its definatley not going its top speed. It starts and fires up and idles fine. The gas in it is old, and the display doesnt work at all. What is the full potential of this machine? Just trying to figure out what to do before i do any damage.

Like I said before I'm new to owning a jetski, I'm here to learn how to properly maintain my machine

    Thanks

more like the motor is struggling, def not metal on metal. by the way this machine has been sitting for awhile, and i took it to a mechanic, he tested for spark and compression, and did some rewiring for me on the ecu. this machine was not in runnning condition when i purcchased it.
