    My 99 slx

Decided last thursday to rebuild a 99 slx 1050 I bught this spring from ebay, the guy said it was winterized improperly and the cylinder was cracked at the base. Well it turned out to be the pto cylinder base was broken completely off of the cylinder, the center was cracked at the base and the exhaust flange was broken at the bolt holes, the mag was broken at the exhaust flange bolts also. The water rail was broken in half, the crank is rusted and the pistons were stuck in the cylinder bores. Got it somewhat dissasembled today, and I have to say that even though this is my first domestic ski, I really like the design of them.. it seems much easier to work on, the carbs come out way easier, the motor mounts were much easier to reach with a socket, etc... the only thing I didn't like was the exhaust.
Anyways friday I placed a call to jay at sharp's and told him I needed a crank, and I would like to have this machine running by this coming weekend for my daughters b-day party, much to my surprise he called me back this morning to tell me it's done and ready to ship
I bought a used top end from a low hrs machine off ebay( heard that before but keeping my fingers crossed) and they will be here by wednesday. Where is the cheapest place for a gasket set? Anything else I should be concearned with on a domestic rebuild?

I believe I saw your motor getting work on Saturday when I was up there. Good luck with the project.

More pics, what a mess, all cleaned up now and ready for reassembly when my parts get here. It is the original stator/cdi, it tested good but we will see.
