My new RXT w/9hrs developed a slight vibration and I noticed this...

Does this look normal?, it doesn't to me. Could it be the cause of my slight vibration. It feels like the engine is missing but it is so suttle that only I can tell the difference. My RXT only has 9 hours on it and I noticed the vibration after 3 hours of use. It has gotten a little worse.

These are pics of the Impeller Boot behind the impeller. I'm not sure what the function of this part is.

    Pleae help.

Is this a rxtx 260? Was it sitting in salt water? I see a scratch on your wear ring.

It's a 2008 RXT that I bought back in March. It was still in the crate with 0 hours on it.
The slight vibration started at 3 hours of use and slowly got worse. Got it up to 9 hours and
decided to look into it. It still reaches top speed, 70mph, but at idle speed I can definately tell
    something is wrong.

I use it in the Galveston Bay/salt water, but it is kept in my boat house lift (out of the water).

It's the 215hp version, black and silver.
I took it back to the dealer where I bought it, and they test drove it on their test lake, but the vibration is so suttle that they determined nothing was wrong with it. I just think they are a bunch of morons so I'm going to take it to a different dealer. I even told them about this impeller boot looking damaged, but I can tell they didn't work on it because it looks the same.

Will do, but the rust really looks worse than it is.
Besides, that's not my current problem.

yeah, the boot doesnt look right to me, when the balance is off on the shaft, you can notice a vibration, that could lead to bearing failure. I dont have an 08, but I would definately have it looked at by another dealer.

That boot is plastic and you do not need it to run the SKI. It might be riding up and down the shaft when you are driving. Take it off and go for a ride and see.

    Ocman,

What is the boot there for?
And did you notice the shiny wear in front of the boot? It looks like threads have been sheared.
