    Carbon Seal Question

Guys, I did a search buy couldn't come up with what I was looking for.

I've got a pretty good amount of black dust underneath the carbon seal on the GTI that I'm a little concerned about. I haven't experienced any cavitation out of the hole. I also haven't seen a single drop of water in that hull.

The ski is an '08 with 45 hours on it. Seems a little too early for the carbon seal to be failing, no?

Don't have a picture now, will post one when I get home from work. Just curious if the dust is ok, without the other sympons.

    Thanks!!

Additionally, the ski is still under warranty. Would the dealer replace it under warranty if I ask them to? Or does it have to cause a problem first?

The dark line or dust line you see is common with the carbon seal...There is no expected life span of a carbon seal..Usually when it starts cavatating or leaking water that is the time to replace the seal...
