4-Tec Engine rebuilders look inside!
Are all 4-tec bottom half cases the same? Like would one from an '02 GTX N/A work on my '08 RXT-X
I recently had a main bearing spin and thrust bearing that got pretty chewed up after water ingestion (carbon seal failure). At this point of the tear down I can only see the bottom case side which is pretty gouged up and will have to be machined. What are my options as far as bearings? Can I get one with a larger O.D? Who / where is a good source?

Typically the cases are machined as a set - Because the tolerances are so good today you might get by swapping out - maybe - maybe not. Bolt them together and check the bore for trueness and concentricy. Gouges don't necessariy mean bad. As long as you have a flat place for the bearing you can be ok. Good Luck

you have to use the block bottom and cylinder as a set !!!!, there is a number just behind the front enginemount that has to match ! if you use different bottom case, your next main bearing failure is comming for sure

Thanks for the great info guys!!!! That being said where is a good place to start looking for some oversized bearings for these engines?
