Using gasket maker on stator cover?

My old stator is fried because the gasket was old and leaked.. do i need to find a new gasket, or could i use a good gasket maker? Its 100+ here and i am getting antsy to get back on the river. Thanks guys.

I just had a guy who owns another 1200 tell me to use Threebond 1211 silicone sealant.. can i just use this? should i put the old gasket in as well or just leave it out ?

Also when i installed the stator did need to do it in a certain order so the engine knows when to fire which cyl?

get a new OEM gasket. DO NOT USE just 1211. I know of many people who have done just that on a superjet and water leaked in

I used Threebond 1211 and so far, so good.

On a Superjet application, I can see what Jonny means, though...

personally I have seen water get into the stator when using just 1211. These were superjets used for freestyle riding so water in the engine bay is always going to happen. After the water got in then it rusted out the starter and made a mess of the stator.
