    mount second battery?

i am looking at ways to mount a second battery for a small stereo. My thought is to mount the battery in the front possible cut out enough of the styrofoam to fit a battery in a closed battery box on the left/right next to the storage bin. would this be ok and safe? any other ideas on how/where to mount the battery?

Weight in the nose to any boat with a planing hull is very counterproductive.

I am not concerned about weight in front. I am just concerned about installing a battery at this location for safety.

That's where I mounted mine. Just whittled out a small spot in the forward facing styrofoam. Didn't have to cut much! I bought a sealed AGM battery from Wal-Mart for about $55. I installed a small amp in the glovebox that has a direct ipod connection built in. No need for a reciever now...just a waterproof pack and my ipod! Even found a Timex watch that controls the ipod! I can cruise all day and jam out on the beach and have yet to drain the battery all the way down! Plus, with it being up there it is really easy to remove and stick the charger on!

Come on man, you gotta show some pics of your set up. I'm just a little mad now that you said you paid 55 for a sealed AGM at wally world. Oriellys was 97 bucks...
