    Which oil for pro 785

    Hi All

Iíve got some AMS oil on order but wonít arrive until I get back from my jetski hols. So Iíve got two options for oil which do you think will be best, just thinking because of the power valves a fully synthetic would be better than the yamalube however doesnít say itís suitable for pwcís?

Iíll only be putting say 5 litres through it or however much I use in a week.

    Castrol Power 1 TTS 2T 2 Stroke oil - 1 Litre

    YAMALUBE Super 2 Stroke TC-W3

Ok sort went yamo lube, I'll use that first apartently the blue oil in it is valvoline 2t which is a mineral based oil I'm lead to beleive. So I'll have to stick with the semi sinthetic for now until my ams oil arrives.

When you drain the oil tank whats the best way without getting air in the lines?

Just let the air in when you drain it. Then, bleed the air back out. (not a big deal)

If you want to be safe... after you change oils, just run the next tank of fuel with 50:1 pre-mix in it. That way, you are covered if there is any air left in the pump.

Ok cool so top up tank with new oil and put 1:50 in fuel also sort of double up to be safe then. Cool.

How far down the lines do I need to bleed just to then bleed out say to filter?

why are you draining your oil tank ? just pour it in and go ? or did i miss something here ? shouldn't hurt to mix the 2 oils , and if your worried about it , run the one down !

    1) drain the tank. (or run it until it's almost gone)

    2) remove the hose from the pump, and let it drain.

    3) once everything is clean, reconnect the hose.

    4) refill with whatever oil you are changing to.

    5) bleed the hose going down to the pump using the bleed screw on the pump.

    6) do a tank of pre-mix (50:1) and go have fun.

If you do a tank of pre-mix... you should still purge out the big bubbles since the pump could overheat with lack of oil at engine speeds. But, you don't have to worry about the little bubbles that remain. (they will purge out in just the first few minutes)

It's generally frowned upon to mix different brands of 2 stroke oils. But that's up to you. I personally would never do it.

    Thanks DrHonda

Once I'm back on the water think I'll start using the case of AMSOIL dominator I've got sat on the shelf frowning at my broken ski!
