Reasons from hopping over from 2 stroke to 4 stroke?????

Im thinking here in the next few weeks im gonna buy another ski to mod... I've been pretty set in stone that I was gonna do a GPR with some tripples but now im starting to see how fast you guys are going with these FZR's an SHO's... I see a lot a of you guys that are making the switch over from the GPR to the FZR an was just wondering whats the reason an what advantages the newer Highly modded FZR has over a Highly modded GPR ?

Youll be toying with the piped GPR alot more than you would a modded FX/FZ. Thats one reason I never put Coffmans on my Ultra150. Plus once the worms went in I would never see the spark plugs again.

Unlike 12-24 months ago, good speed is pretty easy for anyone to get.
    (4-Stroke repairs can be pricey)

Biggest issue I have with the 4-strokes is their size and their isn't a damn thing you can do about that. With lots of power (big $$$) they are a freaking blast though and nothing can compare to the power and torque. Messing/horsing around is hopeless though. If you want the best of both worlds then your only option is to build a conversion. I think another great option is to buy a nice used GP1300R with a couple goodies and then send the cylinders to LH for porting, with the right setup run high 70's. I've ridden every performance 4-stroke ski modded from mild to wild and I still kick myself for selling my GPR. My next sitdown ski will be a GPR, ported 1300 or conversion.

You'll spend a lot more $$$ modding the 4-stroke. I spent $7k for a 90mph modded GPR...no 4-stroke is going to touch me for that kind of money.

To some degree yes. Although, I still think today it is much cheaper and if nothing else quicker than it was when they were introduced.
Probably spent about $15k-$17k (minus the engine rebuild of $10k) on my ski and if I started today that would probably be around $9k-$12k to get to the same point of 85-95 mph when tuned properly.

    I want a conversion. Nice GPR with a 255 Sea-Poo.
