x4 hull question
im looking into buying a ski to jump ocean swells with and i hear the X4 hull is a good way to go..
i also hear the X4 hull with the 800cc engine is best..
can anyone help me with specific years on the x4 hull?
is it any xp or sxp from 1995-1998?

The first x4 to have the 800 was the 95 XP linited but very few were made. The 96 XP had the 800. Then the 97-99 SPX which is the same boat as 96 XP.

im looking into this and i notice the 1997 XP is heavier then then the 96 xp or the 97 spx..
so i guess i would want to stay away from the 97 xp's?
edit/ or 97 xp's aren't x4 hulls?

My wife has a 97 SPX and we absolutely love that thing - a very different ski from my 97 XP. The SPX feels extremely nimble in the water, close to my buddies HX's - not quite as nimble but close.
But that's my inexperienced opinion.

the 97XP is not the X-4 hull. you want to get a 95XP 800, 96XP, 97SPX, 98SPX or 99SPX. all these have 787's in them. the newer the model the more upgraded parts are on it. IF you can find a 99SPX which are about as rare or rarer as the 95 XP 800 I'd go with that.
