    Amazing Thursday Luck!

Yesterday I took the SLX out to the lake for a morning run. Well, it fired up on the trailer fine, and started up in the water fine. However, after getting past the no wake bouy, I nailed it, and there was no power. I tried to choke it, but there was no change. It wouldn't respond to anything...even full throttle. Just ran like it was bogging. It then kept trying to die, so I feared the worst....the Tempo virus....on my winter "to-do" list. Well, this morning I pulled the flame arrester to begin diagnostics and the dreaded carb rebuild when much to my suprise I found one of the flame arrester spacers (cylindrical alluminum sleeve) smiling at me. It had lodged in the center choke butterfly holding all 3 choke fly's half open and unable to fully open; though they would fully close.

Sometimes it just isn't as bad as it seems! Happy Thursday!

get the jb weld out..the way that spacer is just ready to fall into the carbs gets a "what were they thinking?" from me.

Oh yeah, buy a powerball ticket today. I'll take 1% for my suggestion to do so.

I think I will pass on the powerball ticket.... Got out to the lake, fired it up on the trailer, and then in the water about to pass the no wake bouy when it coughed and died. Choked it for a restart thinking: "Well, it's just cold." It tries so hard to restart, coughing and hitting once in a while. That was when I remembered the fuel shut off switch was definitely off. Turned it on, and tried to restart to no avail. Battery died..... swam it back to civilization and have the battery on life support (charger) in the garage.

    Maybe next time....
