951 Oil pump plastic shaft (how cheap!)

I installed a block off plate and forgot to remove the plastic shaft from the pump to the crank; wow! what a cheap piece of plastic. I was expecting some exotic plastic not a chevy knob. I was doubting on my move to premix but I do feel much better even if my oil consumption would jump dramatically. I found it easiest to remove the engine mount to take the magneto plate off, word of advice, mark the engine to the mount with a sharpie so alignment wont be an issue during reinstall.

he pulled the oil pump. installed the block off plate and left the oil pump drive shaft in resulting in the drive shaft shattering in the mag housing

I just assumed he forgot to take it out....

If it did break I would expect that because it had no support on the other end once the pump was removed.
