BigPig's build for the Sydney Australia Bridge To Bridge 2011

If anyone remembers BigPig, here is the technical build for her in the Yamaha projects section.

There's a lot of waffle in there but some of it may help others. It's more or less just a running diary, or compendium of others comments, which helps me understand everything.

Great build. Lots to learn there.

Like how did you turn the FX-SHO into a 5-seater?

Looks like you have some good helpers there Dean. Ones that can fit nicely inside the hull and get to places where we can't normally reach.

    LOL.

Over here in Queensland a kid under 12 is worth half an adult.

Technicially we're good to go but I think Capt Plod (Marine Police wouldn't be happy).

It's been a long time since that photo was taken but yet it seems like yesterday.
    He don't fit no more.
And his sister who is 18mths younger is now 4 inches taller than him.

And yes Mike I did take them out. I just wonder sometimes were the supercharger wine comes from so I double check.

i'm curious are you still pursing the turbo route now that you have the new ET wheel? Also you mentioned something about the FX hull design being 5k behind the FZ. Are you saying the FZ's are a faster hull?

Nice build I enjoyed looking at it! Can't wait til you run it again! Good Luck

    Hi ED,

No. No turbo for me at this stage. It's all good and has lots of advantages except the heat. Plus I can see the clutch issues we have becoming resolved soon with lighter gear wheels, machined and balanced sprage gears, and clutch setups in the s/c'ers. If I can get 100 hours out of this setup of the ETC8 (and I expect to) then I'll be a happy camper.

I believe the FZ hulls are faster over the FX's because of the extra lenght of hull on the FX equals more drag. I'd buy a FZ in a flash if I had the money but for now the fun is in building with what's there. I'll have a true answer for this when one day I do get an FZ and transfer everything to it from the FX.

Thanks for the good luck call, I'll need it.

    Dean

Water got choppy a few weeks ago and the front cargo was loaded with picnic stuff.... a full bag of potato chips ripped and created a mess in the bilge.... what to do????....... got my helper in there and 5 minutes later all was spotless clean....
