68mph on stock rxp but only 7600 rpms?

I have a 100% stock 04 rxp with 53 hours on it. It has never been able to get over 7700 rpms max. I did gps it at 68.9 mph in cold 30 degree water.

Could the rpm reading be off?

It has the limiter recall, correct oil level and metal washers. It has had two stock props and neither were able to push it over 7700 rpms.

    No boost leaks.

+1 on both those comments. The rpm is accurate and in summer his speed will be less.
Are you sure they hooked it up to buds for the knock sensor update, and do you have the pigtail in stalled. I see you say limiter update but not sure if you have knock sensor update.

I have to ask. Never heard of the "limiter update"??? Or does he mean the knock sensor update.
