Lighweight hull digital speed gauge
I just received my new lightweight hull from Malte. The engine is running a Rotax Racing ECU 8800 and from what i have been informed all Rotax racing ECU's do not show in the display the speed. I want to install a digital gauge that shows me the MPH all the time. I was thinking of installing the stock one but i do not know if i can connect it with an aftermarket digital gauge without passing through the 8800 ECU. What do you think??? If you have any other ideas please tell.
Here are some pics of the lightweight hull that i got from Malte!

malte's the info guru and the builder of your boat... why don't you ask him?! BTW that thing looks REALLY nice!
on a side note you could always hook a bar mounted GPS up so you would be able to see the speed and not have to hardwire anything

I was thinking of asking for more help since Malte has already told me me to mount the GPS which i will do when i want to measure top speed. But i dont think that the GPS is its best when its going to be wet all the time especially with salt. Thats why i was thinking for a gauge as well and i asked for your opinion since i have seen many guys here mounting gauges.

they have gps speedos for boat applications it is a guage just like a boost guage..and the gps is seperate
is it anexact copy of the rxp on the bottom or has it been changed ...
and just how much lighter is it...??
i have a hull i am working on myself...

Its a copy of the RXP but more light and more strong to some areas where the in factory hull you might see problems like spider cracks inside the tunel, usually in an RXT-X and in some cases like i have seen in a modified RXP-X. But its something that does not happen all the time.
The total weight of the ski is 280 Kg. I do not know how much is this in pounds but considering that the stock ski is 360 Kg then its a less more. Adding the power as well then i assume (since its not in the water yet) that its going to be very fast!!!
Where do you find these GPS speedos??? And is it easy to install it meaning from electrical pont of view???

280kg = 617lbs
157lbs. lighter than a stock RXP-X... that will be felt

I hope so! As soon as i test it i will inform you about the speed and the handling.....
But according to Malte its very steady and the performance is amazing!!!! I take his word for it!!!
I just have to figure it out about the GPS gauge. But i will see if the Etrex that i got is going to be ok with water. I would prefer the stock gauge to work even if it showed up to 70.....
