DESS key not working but learning key does
I just took the RXT out for the first time yesterday. Bought it used with 26 hrs. Noticed the battery was low but took it out anyways.
With the learning key ran fine with a top speed of 40mph at 5150RPM's.
When I tried the Dess key I got one long beep and a dead switch....nothing. Put the learning key in and it came to life again.
I tried a charger on the battery when I got home and the long beep with the Dess key got louder, but a dead response again. Tried the key serveral times with the same result.
Just ordered a Odyssey PC925L with 3 day shipping so I'll try again Thursday at the latest.
Could a low battery prevent the DESS key from working? Not sure why putting a charger on it would not give enough power to enable the DESS key.

any DESS from any Sea Doo, or Ski Doo will give you a single beep. If the learning key is working, the battery/post are fine. Are you sure you got the correct DESS for that Ski?

Hmmm...I was thinking the same thing. The guy I bought it from had both keys in the glove box of the ski. He did have a second Seadoo but it was an older model w/carbs . I'm not sure if it would have DESS keys also?

sounds like you got the wrong key. you either get the right key from the seller or take it to the dealer and have it programed to that key. the one long beep means the ski does not reconize the key. ski's 96+ have DESS so he probably just mixed the keys up.

Thanks ... I'll check the dealer for the reprograming cost... the seller hasn't responded yet.
He had it for sale so he might have sold the other ski....

Do you have to take the seadoos in to the dealer to get the key programmed or replaced or can you just give them the information from the seadoos?

Dealer or independent with BUDS like me. Needs to be programmed in the key table of the immobilizer system.
