    MFD "hot"

Book says that this means it is high temp. Ski is sitting in the garage, hasn't been started or run in over 48 hours. This just started to happen so it is the thermostat or the wire that isn't connected? This is happening on my 96 slt780.

    thanks

The MFD is saying HOT when the engine is not running?

Are you starting it in the garage?
    For how long?

The Tan wire is for the temp sensor. If it is shorted to ground, it will trigger the HOT message.

I hadn't started it since the other night that's why I was so puzzled. But then I realized that I replaced the mfd fuse yesterday. Took the cdi apart and sure enough the wire was crunched in between the sides. From looking at it, it has been done a few times cause in some places it was all the way down to bare copper. Cut the old one out, spliced in a new one, heat shrink and all is great now.

Finally will be at the river tomorrow to get this thing in the water.

Just for clarification, the CDI is the sealed block box inside the elec box.

You mean the wire was pinched between the elec box halves. That will cause it to read hot.

opps, meant the entire ebox not the cdi itself.
