trouble shooting ? help
Im currently trouble shooting what I thought was a batterry / charging problem.
problems started off as the ski shutting down on me (no codes) like the key was pulled off. I would have to wiggle the dess key a few times to get a display & it started. Ran good & symptom persisted till the key was no longer recognized. I thought that since this was the original battery, that it was eventially going bad ( i charge them during the winter)
So i bought a new battery at the NAPA auto ( I was on vacation ) which they said was ready to run. Installed new battery...dess key on normal beeps & display. I though all was good, went for a ride about 10 min ...ski shutdown...reapplied dess key..no beeps or display. After wiggling & playing with the dess key I finally got it to start rode back to the launch ramp. By this time the dess key cannot be recognized & battery is dead.
Im home now & had the battery charged over night @ 2amps trickle charge. put battery in the ski & get a volt meter reading of 13.3 vdc ....turn on ski and get 14.1vdc (which im assuming the battery is getting a charge) I rev to 5000+ and get 14.1vdc.
With these readings Im assuming the rectifier is fine.....all fuses look good including both 30amps. Could this have been just a weak battery issue ? I know they said the new battery was ready to run...but I didnt charge over night.
Or could this be a bad dess post....just for the record, I thought it was a bad dess key but the same symptoms happened with the learning key which is practically brand new.
Your thoughts please before I spend on parts.
*also where are the engine grounds onmy RXT located?

Thanks 4 the replies.......I just went out to put the key on the post & guess what??....no display or beeps even after trying to wiggled it around...check voltage on the battery still reading 13.1vdc. The post seems to be toast . Anyways, Is the post fairly easy to replace & require any "special tools"?? Also does the key need to be reprogrammed or just replace the post & I'm good to go?
Thanks for you replies
