    Need Help! GP1200R Crank? issues?

    Rebuilt the top end of a 1200R. Checked out the crank when top end was off (cylinders too) and it looked good. Took it out for break in and everything was looking good (was running 32-1 oil premix) until I tried to get it on plane...

    The ski would rev up to 7000 RPM but it felt like the pump was not pushing out enough water.

    So i babied it to shore to look for an obstruction in the intake.. I found none. I went to start it and it would not start.

    Took it home, pulled the plugs and I can hand turn the Crank... but it seems to have a "walk" in the crank... Meaning, when I turn it in a direction, it kind of clicks over and continues a bit after I stop turning it.

    Also, the starter seems like the bendix won't engage..

    quick easy check to do is set #1 piston to TDC and #2 and #3 should measure the same from the spark plug hole down to the piston. I had a crank start to separate but it would run just would not rev past 6800

    The fact the starter is giving you issues, makes me think it is a cracked or broken snout, but thats just a guess on my part.

    Any way of telling without tearing down the whole engine?

    Or at minimum pulling off the front cover?
