    Fz overheating

looking for ideas my FZ has had a problem of activating the overheat limiter on the Vipec and the data shows the motor getting over 100C and this is when the limiter kicks in so I have removed a few water lines and after blowing thru them they seem clear so I am not sure what to do next here is my set up

I only installed #2 from the R&D kit the one that adds water to the intercooler my engine cooling is still stock but I do have my Thermostat removed and I am not running a water box the only thing I can think of is that the water has no resistence from the Thermo or water box and may not be cooling correctly I dont know or is it just a matter of I need to add the extra water line for the motor

Scott I supect that the water is moving too fast through the motor and the water is not having time to stay in contact with the cooling passages to get ride of the heat. IMO Re inatall the thermostat for sure, This is simple enough to try! Tommy

Let us know because I have the same problem if I go 50 mph for 5 to 10 minutes then hit the throttle the rev limiter kick in and I need to go slow to cool it down then shut it off and start it up then I can do a high speed run and I have the thermostat in.

Silly question but have you guys checked if there is a buildup of crap in the strainer on the side of the pump?

Yes this has happened since I put the R&D C3-11 in and I have had the pump apart installing the twin prop but I will check again. Do you think I need the R&D strainer will that give me more water flow?

I wouldn't worry about the aftermarket strainer yet.

At you first post you said "I dont know or is it just a matter of I need to add the extra water line for the motor "

Add the extra cooling line. I should re-read posts more often.

As MotecPete said in his webinar "these 1800 supercharged motors are running their entire cooling system thru a single 10mm hole."

Add the extra water line and all should be good.

    Hope this helps,

    Dean

PS if your not running at 85c +/- 5c then put the thermo back in. Too cold isn't all that good either.

Well I am running the extra water line with no thermostat and I m still getting the same problem here

Whenever holding WOT for just a few secs engine temp passes 90c and VIPEC cuts down rpms,

it shows very clearly on my data-logs, I am pegged at 8.000 rpms...

Any suggestion, bigger water lines? which diameter would be safe for the IC core?
