Blue motor or red motor & slt 780 or 1050 sltx 1997

I did some reading and got info and both and cant seem to find it now.. But what motor is the good motor the red one..?? Or the blue one.

From what I remember it's the red one that doesnt have the fuel pump issue and a couple other things right...?

Oh any opinions on a slt 780 1997 or a sltx 1997 1050..?? looking at one or the other maybe.

The 1050 has 13.8 original hrs but needs a good bath ...lol

    What are they worth.

    Thanks

Kelly Blue Book shows $1575 for a 1997 SLT780 and $1905 for a 1997 SLTX. Thats assuming they are in very good condition.

The blue (fuji) engines do need the triple outlet fuel pump upgrade. The red (domestic) engines have had problems with stators, update stators are still available. Both are very good engines.

I own a 1996 SLTX and would recommend buying an SLTX. Definetly more power than a 780. Well worth a few more dollars.

It seems that the MFD's sometimes reset the hours when changing batteries. Keep that in mind when buying a 13 year old ski with 13.8 hours on it.

    Good luck

you will LOVE the SLTX its alot faster then the slt 780 stock and handles better.. my buddy has a 780 and i have the 1050! its not bad on gas but they can have stator /cdi issues.

test ride it.. and if she runs good i would get the sltx

If the 1050 has not had the stator/cdi upgrade, it will need it, with a price tag of $350 it is something to think about.

He said he had the cdi issue already fixed last July. A older couple owns it and only took it out twice a year and he has had health issues now so said he won't be using it now and used it once this July for about 20 mins to see if it still runs good which he said it did and he fires it up every couple weeks now that he's selling it comes with a double trailer for $ 2000 it is that or maybe a 98 seadoo gts but seem to be leaning toward the sltx. Only thing is the trailer has seen better days needing carpet and new fenders

    Funny you should ask.

My buddy just bought these exact skis last WED. 97 SLT 780 and the 98 SLTX 1050.

Both are very good skis, the SLTX is slightly faster though.

Both use the same hull, so no handling differences at all.

The 780 doesn't have the fuel system problems like the 650/750 did. It came with the H.O fuel pump already. Just replace the fuel hoses and oil lines, maybe go throught the carbs because of age, and you'll have a reliable ski.

The SLTX did have the ign problem, but once upgraded, should also be reliable too.

More room for performance upgrades on the SLTX VS. the 780.

And just to give you a rough idea of what the going price was for these 2 skis in VGC, $3950 with a NICE 2 place trailer included.
