Holeshot mod gasket blown. what do you use?

Hey guys I did the holeshot mod to my ski while back and I just had to take the stinger off because when I was trying to get my tach to work last weekend my throttle cable broke. Well when I took the large rubber boot off that goes b/t the u-pipe and stinger I cranked up the ski to make sure no exhaust was geting in the water jacket and sure enough there was exhaust blowing from the stinger side water jacket. So when I removed the stinger I checked the lower gasket and sure enough it was blown out. I used a heavy duty rubberized fiber reinforced gasket mat to cut the gasket out and I used the factory metal gasket to reinforce it and its only been on the ski for a few hours. where the oval holes are in the metal gasket is where the rubberized gasket blew out.

So what do you guys use for this lower gasket? Has anyone tried to just JB weld the stinger and just use the factory gasket?

    I use a reinforced gasket-not rubber

I had one of them SS plates on a customers boat leak a couple weeks ago, due to salt water corrosion of the OEM metal gasket.

I am thinking about just filling up the stinger down at the bottom with JB weld I dont see what it could hurt as long as water still gets to the lower temp sensor. It sounds bad using JB weld but I think it would work better than any of the alternatives It just cant be reversed once its done its done.

It sounds to me like you plan to fill the holes up that allows water to be injected into the water box from the stinger.

    If that is the case:

    1. Your exhaust gas that comes out of the stinger will be so hot that it will melt the coupler between the stinger and waterbox.

    2. You scavenging system will break down and you will loose about 200 rpms on the top end. In other words, you will not have enough backpressure on your exhaust system for your engine to function efficiently.

I hope I'm misreading your post.
