    Ultra150 VS Yamaha GP1300R

I have the "age old" question, no pun intended. I am 57 years young and can't decide which of these two I want to buy. I hope to ride mostly slowly but occasionally wick it up for some fun. I may want to explore in some choppy water out in the bay but never in the ocean. I will never take a passenger and weight out nearly 280 pounds. The GP1300 is rated for about 40 more pounds, not enough for me to take a passenger on, so either ski would be for my fatass alone.

If I choose between these two, would I be disappointed with the ultra as it being too twitchy with my weight on it and I would be better off with the extra stability of the Yamaha? Any advice would be very helpful... Please help out the old man.

    I have an Ultra 150.
After reading your question, I'd have to suggest that you get the Yamaha.

I own a 150, buddy owns a GP1300R and we have literally stepped off of one onto the other before, the 1300 is more stable and handles chop better. It's kinda slow compared to the ultra and does not handle nearly as well IMHO. Unless you want a ski that you can really wring out, get the 1300.

I heard the Ultra 150s handle poorly?

Thanks so much....you folks are the greatest. I love honesty. Why "push" the product you love if it does not suit another? Hearing what I thought was the truth, here, in THIS forum, really really helps me. I might just wait around for a used SUV and end up with something really unique.

    Thanks again!

Haha my ass they do, that sounds like somebody's personal opinion who wasn't used to the turning. They handle amazing. I really wanna know which stock has a higher top speed.

OK it must have been some B.S I heard then. Speedwise I could have sworn the 99 Ultra 150 did 66 or 67 out of the box, then they made them slower for 2000 for some reason. I could be wrong though. Doesn't the 1300GPR do around 64 stock?

OP an Ultra 150 and SUV are two completly different machines. One is a high powered fast 2 seater the other a large cruiser. It's like deciding between a crotch rocket and a Honda Goldwing. Are you just not sure what will suit your needs better?

Wait a minute where'd the SUV come into the mix? I thought we were comparing a GPR1300 to an Ultra 150??
