    Loose transfer shaft

So, If your transfer shaft was loose what would be the effect on the engine running?

Beyond the starter just spinning until you retighten it.

What transfer shaft? The one from the crank to the coupler?

Yep, apparently it does not have enough torque on it so if the engine kicks back a bit it comes loose. Like when trying to start. Then your starter will just spin and spin until you tighten it up some turning the prop shaft clockwise. (until it gets kicked loose again)
I am wondering if this affects the sensor and generator and would cause a run issue as well.

(BTW, I hear the black #4 piston I have may be a bad coil)

I guess anything is possible. But it seems odd that the coil was working fine before, and now, without any use since your engine failure, it decides to go out?

I don't see why that shaft being lose would effect the engine running anyway. But a bad coil definitely would make it run like sheet. I dunno, you want me to run home and disconnect one of my coils? I doubt it will even start but you never know.
