1996 SLT 700 Engine will not restart after running

Hello All, My 1996 SLT 700 will not restart after it is shut down. It needs to cool down any where between 5 and 15 minutes before it will restart. Thinking it might be flooded, I've held the throttle wide open and it doesn't fire. Looking down the throat of the carbs, shows a strong stream of fuel while hitting the throttle lever. I've read thru the trouble shooting charts and I don't see my exact problem. This ski really runs great until you shut it off, so I'm having a difficult time diagnosing this problem. Any ideas? Thanks!

Have a look at the links in my signature.

I suspect you need to apply Service Bulletin PWC-00-05, which should correct your no-restart when warm problem.

Thanks very much for the tip. I just took a look at my CDI and this service bulletin was never performed on this ski. I do want to clarify my wiring with you before reconnecting the battery. The red / purple wire you are talking about, leaves the cdi, splits on one side of the circuit breaker and then on the the terminal marked red / purple. I just wanted to be sure. I hope to test run the ski tomorrow. Again, thanks for your help.

To do the service bulletin change, you want to end up with all Red/Purple wires, including the one from the circuit breaker, going to the Red/Purple terminals.

The ONLY exception is the Red/Purple wire that comes directly out of the CDI. That wire, and only that wire, is to now connect directly to an Orange terminal.

That original Y connection in the Red/Purple wire can be confusing.

You will need to change some wire ends to the appropriate spade type crimp-on connectors to fit onto the Orange and Red/Purple terminals.
