    RIVA GP1200R Info

Hey guys I was looking to get some info on this ski, because I was thinking about getting it. It says its the Riva GPR1200 with 185HP but I though that one had triple pipes on it. This just seems to have the standard 65U engine. If you could help me out on this it would be awesome, I have been looking for info but can seem to find any on it. Click image for larger version.

Well, to start with, it's a GP1200, not a GP1200R. A stock one has 135 HP, but that looks like either a Riva Racing ski or a replica. I don't think you are going to get an extra 50 HP on it without triples.

yea I figured it wasn't the R3 but it could be the Riva GP1200R which was the predecessor to the GPR1200 I believe. Is there any way to check if its actually the Riva ski and not just a 1200 dressed up like it? By the way the 99 RIVA GP1200R had 155hp and the R3 had 185. Thanks for the reply

Im pretty sure RIVA had better graphics than that and they used one of their billet heads not a stock one

Yeah, Riva made a couple of hundred of them and called them the 1200R, not the same and the 1200R of the next few years; that was a completely different boat. The ski should be serial numbered. That looks a lot like one, but I don't think any of them came with stock handlebars. Ask for the serial number and call Riva to check.

And GGG is right about the billet heads; there was also some sort of custom exhaust bracket, if I'm not mistaken.

Edit: I guess they did come with stock bars, here's a link.

This is Yamahanks GP1200R with what looks like some addons. That looks like maybe an old Riva race ski/clone not a GP1200R because I don't see the serial number plate next to the rear seat/grab bar.

Thanks for all the great info guys. If it looked like the one above I would be all over it, but I have a feeling this is a good one to pass on.. Ill start looking for a GPR 1300 then. Thanks guys!

Riva did make a GP1200R prior to Yamaha releasing theirs it was a gp1200 but the one in the picture is not one of them.

Nope its not a riva built ski at all, it's far past a riva ski. I built it myself with the help from Tim Judge. And let me tell you it really hauls. There are more pics on here of the motor and the rest of the ski. Looking forward to posting pics of my 3 tripple pipe max loaded GPRS. Thanks for posting pics JonnyB Yamahank
