    2000 slh 700

I just rebuild the motor in this. guy said the auto oil system was disabled. how ever puting it all back togather and do notice the oil system seems to be working as I getting oil from the oil lines to the carbs. Only thing I can see was diable before I got them was on top of the tank. Looks like the cut the line and plug the line that supply air as it did go into a tie that the fuel like also run to the air vent.

so my qustion is can I trust the oil system and just fill it with oil or do I just stay with pre-mix?

Post a few photos of this oil fitting on the tank. I suspect the venting is currently in the factory stock configuration.

Is the control cable from the oil pump to the carburetor in place and working?
Oil pump arm should pull upwards when the throttle is squeezed.

yes the cable is connected and working. I get pictures this afternoon as I am heading ot work.

Anothing I noticed last night. I took the carbs off to clean them and check them out. On the front carb it is missing a clear plastic flap gasket or something like that under a brass triangle peace. I have ordered the parts for this. But can I still run the ski with that missing? It starts up fine runs ok. just alittle bogge. I have not got it to water since new motor build. Was hoping to do that this weekend. But will not if this flap gasket is needed.

You were going to post photos, remember?

Missing or damaged parts inside the carburetor is always bad. Fix the carbs properly first, THEN go riding.

Oil tank vent check valve and fuel tank vent check valve in the second photo both look normal - factory configuration.

What is not factory is the grunge and grime. Those check valves look gummy and dirty to me.

I would be giving the entire hull a thorough cleaning out, then replace those check valves with new ones. Those two vent check valves are designed to allow air INTO the tanks. If they have grit and grime on the open nipple ends, that can also get drawn into the valves and possibly into the tanks.

While you are at it, apply some rust dissolver to the oil pump bracket to clean it up, followed by some protective coating (silicone spray, Fluid Film, etc)

Thanks, I will do that. This sat is clean day and repair/fix. My next qustion is should I trust the oil pump? or just countiue with pre-mix. Guy i got it from said it was disable but as you can see everything there. I know oil flows from both cables as I un pluged them and let the motor run and it was pumping oil.

The Polaris oil injection system is fairly reliable if it is well maintained.

Replace the oil lines and filter, check or replace the clamps.

Good used oil pumps are available, if you decide you need one.
