R88's Lightwieght GP class RXP Build.
OK peeps, Tomorrow will be the start of my latest project, after 7-1/2 hours of driving im the proud owner of James Bushells 2010 lightwieght hull.
Im going to show all the ins and outs of the build with pics along the way, right now its a bare hull apart from a couple straps and a pump shoe.
Im basicly stripping down the ski I have in my sig and fitting all of the parts into the new hull.
Should be good fun although a fair amount of work involved im lucky to have a bank holiday weekend so I have 3 days to get the big jobs done then its down to the already chilly evenings to get her finished up.
Hope yall enjoy watching it come together, R88

Well I got started today, so busy I forgot to take any pics but then there is not really much to see at this point, started buy cleaning up the fuel tank and installing that, then fitted my UMI and steering cable. Moved on to the electrics, had to drill holes to fix the MPEM down.
Fabbed up a battery tray for my smaller race battery and got that in place.
Fitted the engine mounts.
Drilled new exhaust hole as James was running it out the other side due to running Les Cooke turbo. used the piece I cut out for new hole to fill the old hole and fibreglassed the back side of it just needs Gel coating on the outside now to finish it off.
Fibre glassed the thru hull fitting in place to hold my bearing carrier/driveshaft seal.
Fitted duck bill drains and that was about it for today, ill try get some pics tomurra to show progress.
Im little stuck for couple days as well due to waiting on 08 oiler to come in the post so I can mod my PTO before re-installing the motor, hope that I can get those parts by mid week and get the motor back in.
Im quite pleased with how fast it all comes together, but then it all the finishing touches that will take the time.
Keep watching R88

Well I have some pics that im going to post up but up to now in addition to the above the steering is all bolted down, electrics all in and tie wraped in place, grate and plate are fitted, helps to have the ski upside down on the lawn lol.
Intercooler is in and the bilge pump. fabbed up a hatch cover to cover in the front bucket hole. Hood is drying off as I type.
Still waiting for my parts in the post so not a whole lot more I can do untill the motor goes in.
My exhaust that you may have seen in my other thread is all finished, im well happy with the way that has come out and cant wait to fire her up for the first time.
Relocated the fuel filler as I will be running a stripped hood that will be bolted on and removing it would not be easy at the filling station so put the filler on the side with nice aero cap.
Charging points so that I can charge the battery without removing hood ect ect. To be fair tho this is something James does on all his GP boats so cant take credit for that.
Fuel pressure and bilge pump switch on the plate covering vent hole.
Still allot of jobs to do but she is getting there.
Will come together real quick when I can get the motor back in
Gona get My LC1 wired in and the pneumatic trim control box fitted tomurra

Well got some more of the finising off done while I wait for my 08 oiler to turn up.
Got the control box and bottle fitted for the trim system I have put the bottle up ontop of the cover plate for easyer access. Used some nice sealing glands to take the feed pipe and wire from the lever.
Ordered a X series throttle cable as mine was shot and the X one look nicer with the stainless braiding, only like £7 more as well.
Couple pics of the finished exhaust and my carbon fibre air box.
The pump end of the trim system, adjustable Les Cooke pump cone and adjustable ventury with 85mm ring. She should accel well im hoping just going to have to get the prop right.
I just need the parts to come in the post now so that I can get the rest done.
Pics to follow
