who has taken off the oem "bilge" hoses?

I installed a bilge pump and want to know if anyone has done this before because I hate the cluster and want to remove them.

I was thinking of taking them off and plugging the hole with a little silicone.

    What do you guys think?

I wouldn't touch them. They work extremely well and are non-mechanical. They will continously bilge out water while your bilge pump is mechanical and can wear out/sieze...

Why not have your bilge pump installation as a redundancy?

Just incase your carbon seal starts leaking excessively?

I recommend you leave them in also! If you have a catastrophic hull breech, a 500-800 gpm bilge pump probably wont keep up with the water coming in, if you are able to keep the ski moving, the "bailers" are helping remove the water......... enough to beach the ski and keep it from sinking! Two very possible events are a thru hull exhaust hose coming off or the carbon ring failing.

Starters, I run a 1100GPH bilge pump with VersiPlugs( drains all the time). You can block the "bilge hoses" easy. Pull the pump and place one penny in each opening for the "bilge hoses". I also just cut a piece off bilge hose/tubing and on the inside hooked up them up to each behind the VTS motor.

the easiest way to delete the bailers is to take a piece of hose and loop it from one bailer to the other and hose clap it on where it comes through the hull. you dont even have to take off the pump

The pennies in the pumpshoe are the real fix with no worries of tubing poping off. The tubing deal is just something I did, not really needed. Kind of a back-up.

I'm going to be ordering the Versiplugs and most probably going to do the Penny trick in the Pump Shoe.

Thanks for the help guys, I'll post pics when i'm done.
